Smoothies are great because they are low calorie, filling, they taste good, and they are really easy to make. Follow along for my recipe to make a great high energy smoothie, it makes two servings and will sustain you through a busy morning. Each serving has about 300 calories.

Necessary equipment:
  • Blender. or Nutribullet (preferred because of easy cleaning)

Necessary ingredients:
  • Half cup of frozen strawberries
  • Quarter cup of frozen peaches
  • One medium sized banana
  • Quarter cup of Blueberries
  • Two small chunks of ice
  • A small handful of spinach
  • Two tablespoons of chia seeds
  • Enough Naked Green Machine Juice to cover the ingredients in the Nutribullet (or blender).

How I do it:
There is a bit of an art form to making a smoothie with good consistency, and there is no "right" way to do this. Just because I listed exact ingredients doesn't mean that it will come out perfectly. It might take you a few tries to get the perfect amount of liquid/solid ratio, and when you use a measuring cup for frozen fruit, the pieces can be different sizes therefore affecting the consistency. There is also personal preference, I prefer thick smoothies, where some folks prefer smoothies almost like a juice.

Using a medium Nutribullet cup, put in your ice, then banana, spinach, blueberries, strawberries, peaches. Pour in your Naked Green Machine Juice  until you are barely covering the solid ingredients (If you are looking for a lower calorie option, just use water or half juice half water). Finally, add the chia seeds and blend it immediately for one minute. If you wait then the chia seeds will solidify and become hard to clean out (chia seeds are amazing for you, they reduce inflammation and give you tons of fiber and energy).  If you have trouble getting it blended together, then you probably need to add a little bit more liquid.

Click through the pictures below to see how I did it.

This smoothie is so good for you! The spinach has vitamin A, the strawberries have vitamin C, the chia seeds with the Omega 3 fatty acids, and potassium from the banana. You can freeze one serving for the next day and drink the other one on your way out the door.
